FORMER Bafana Bafana defender, Siyanda Xulu, is happy to be back in the DStv Premiership again.
This time around he is playing for Tshwane rival, SuperSport United, to help the team achieve its goals of ending the season with more silverware.
Xulu joins Matsatsantsa on a two year deal with an option to renew.
Last season, Matsatsantsa finished the 2022/2023 campaign well in third position, conceding 22 goals and netting 34.
Gavin Hunt’s men would like to improve this season by trying to score more goals while conceding less. The acquisition of a KZN born stopper will help them to achieve those goals.
Xulu, 31-years-old this year, joins Matsatsantsa A Pitori after leaving Turan Tovuz in Azerbaijan as his contract expired at the end of June.
Though he seems to have enjoyed his football in Azerbaijan, the former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns man says his focus is now at Matsatsantsa.
“I am so excited to be here, but it’s not only about me but the team. As a new player, I need other guys to help me to be as organised as I can so we succeed,” he said.
He is not the only player who joined Matsatsantsa this season, as players like Samukelo Xulu, Ime Okon, Etiosa Ighodaro and Washington Arubi as well as Terrence Dzvukamanja, Siphesihle Ndlovu and others were signed. Those who were offloaded are Thapelo Maseko, Keenan Phillips, Thamsanqa Gabuza, Putco Khoza and Aubrey Ngoma.
Meanwhile Zakhele Lepasa who was loaned to the club by Orlando Pirates will make his way back to Bucs.
Gavin Hunt is happy for players that they have managed to bring into the club and he hopes they do well and make their supporters happy by winning more silverware.
